Is your dog chewing up your couch or shoes while you’re away at work? Does fido seem bored or anxious? Does your pup look a little overweight? If any of these apply to your fur kid it might be time to adjust their exercise routine! It is common knowledge that humans benefit from at least 30 minutes of exercise daily. Guess what? It is the same for dogs! There is a long list of benefits associated with walking your dog or hiring a dog walker!

  • Helps maintain a healthy weight
  • Helps reduce stress/separation anxiety
  • Helps with problem behaviors (Chewing/pottying in home)
  • Provides mental stimulation
  • Healthy, fun exercise for YOU

The amount of exercise a dog needs varies from breed to breed and depending on the dog’s age. Dog trainers and experts recommend a minimum of 60 minutes daily for puppies. Most adult dogs do well with two 20-30 minute walks per day. Senior dogs don’t need as much exercise, but they often still enjoy going out for a sniff! You should also consider the breed of your dog: sporting and herding dogs often need A LOT of daily exercise to get out their energy. On the opposite end of that spectrum, English Bulldogs for example, are happy with a couple short potty walks and lots of cuddle time.
